First tests on snow
ISTA is proud to announce the success of the first official tests for the DISCOVERY and ST1 trainings, that happened in Verbier (VS) last 20th February and March 7th march.
Held in a diligent but friendly atmosphere, these tests allowed us to collect comments and suggestions from hardened mountain professionals.
Participation to the two tests included the following UIAGM guides: Stéphane Hottinger and Thierry Gasser, the internationally renowned nivology specialist Robert Bolognesi, as well as ski instructors Bertrand Eccoffey, Francois Gard and Petr Pavlovic from the Swiss Ski School in Verbier.
The director of the Swiss Ski School in Verbier, Mr Philippe May, who have participated in the development of ISTA training programs since the beginning states: “Currently, freeriders care more about the latest gear than about the fundamentals! With the ISTA program, our goal is to help practitioners to read and understand the mountain environment as well as the elements that compose it. All these factors will have a crucial impact on the off-piste outings.
We thank all these people for their participation as well as TéléVerbier for their logistical support.
More information on the development of the ISTA trainings DISCOVERY and ST1 will follow.
